A note from Unchained: This testimony was written for the men at Jefferson Correctional, to be shared at a ministry event created by Javonte. We were deeply encouraged by the incredible words placed on his heart and, with his permission, wanted to share them with you all. Thank you, Javonte.
Forged by Circumstances
Hey guys it’s me, Javonte Davis. Most of you know me as JD or J-Dizzle & some of you know me as Tae. I want to begin by thanking Peyton for presenting me with this beautiful opportunity to communicate with you guys. I want to take this time to share a part of my story and how I feel as though what I have gone through is much bigger than me. It is the ordained work of God!
When I was 16 years old I became involved with the crowd of people, which led me into a fatal accident. This catastrophe left me feeling unworthy, miserable, & depressed. I hated myself for what I had done. In my pit of despair, I began to question God. Asking why me God, why would you allow this to happen to me & my family, why would you let this happen to this young lady? My friends & family could see that I was not acting like my normal self, so they made it known to me that I made a mistake. In my eyes, this was the end of my story.
In the Bible, there is a man named Jacob. Jacob deceived his twin brother Esau to obtain his birthright & blessing. Out of fear, Jacob fled his hometown, leading him into a series of significant circumstances. Entitling him as, “The one who wrestled with God." I suspect at some point in Jacob’s story that he believed that it was the end of his story. However, what I am certain of is that we cannot put a period where God put a comma! We cannot say I am done when God says keep going! We serve a God who takes past hurts, regrets, circumstances and forges them together to make a beautiful story for His glory! Allow God to take your mess & turn it into a message.
No matter what the circumstances may be, I want this to be a reminder, that this is not the end of your story. He has so much more for you. I love you guys & thank you for listening
